Congratulations to our Under 11 Shelbourne Youth Academy Team who today won The Jimmy Jones Memorial Craigavon Cup in Glenavon.
Our Under 11 team where due to play in their League Cup Final this morning but due to bad weather the final was canceled meaning they could attend the prestigious Craigavon Cup in Northern Ireland today.
The Craigavon Cup is a invitation only cup for the Under 9, 10, 11 and Under 12 age groups and only teams whose senior team play in a professional or semi professional League in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland are allowed gain entry.
The day consisted of five games for our under 11's and even though the tournament was played as a 9 a side tournament (Under 11's in the DDSL play 7 a side normally) our young reds did fantastically well reaching the final and after a long hard day they played to the best of their abilities to run out worthy winners against Irish League side Linfield who would be deemed one of the powerhouses of football in Northern Ireland.
Again a big congratulations goes out to all the players and the two excellent coaches in Paul Ayton and Tony Colgan, you performed excellently all day and done the club proud by sticking to our principals of quality attacking play were the young players are allowed to express themselves both as an individuals and a team!!
Hopefully this will lead into another fantastic weekend in their cup final when it has been re-arranged.
We would also like to thank the organizers for inviting us to attend this fantastic competition and also congratulate them on how well the event was run today.
